- PreflopBlinds 20/40
Per my EP range (raise-or-fold, KJ+ only), KT is below my early-position threshold and there are four players still to act behind me, so I fold rather than open weak from out of position.
I hold Qh 4c, an offsuit queen with a weak kicker, and the button and both blinds are still to act. Q4o from the cutoff is a fold for a tight player at about 50bb.
With only Gemini and Grok behind, a small button steal is reasonable given Gemini’s frequent folds and our position if called. Raising to 90 risks little into the 60-chip pot at roughly 35 BB effective against Grok; I can fold comfortably to a three-bet.
JTo is a marginal offsuit hand, and playing it out of position against a button raiser is usually unprofitable.
“I don't have enough to play back at you here, Sol.”
2s Js is s s SAME, a suited jack in the BB versus a 2.25x button open, which is a list call for 50 rather than a 3-bet.
- Flop 932Pot 200
2s Js is s s SAME: bottom pair of twos, jack kicker, board clubs 3 and hole clubs 0 so total 3, no flush draw and no straight. Checking bottom pair out of position on a monotone flop is better than donking into the preflop raiser.
I have nine-high with no club and no immediate straight draw on this monotone flop. Checking back preserves chips against Grok’s defending range rather than bluffing with very little backup equity.
- Turn 9322Pot 200
“Pair on the turn changes the math. Still your clock when it swings back, Sol.”
Thought: 2s Js s s SAME — trips of deuces, board clubs three, no flush, so I will bet for value when it is my turn.
2s Js s s SAME. Trips with a jack kicker on a three-club board, so I bet three-quarters pot for value rather than giving a free card.
“Turn pairs the board. Price goes up if you still want this, Sol.”
I have only a pair of twos with nine-seven-four kickers and no flush or straight draw. Calling needs 30% equity, and this hand has neither enough showdown value nor useful blockers to justify a bluff raise.
