- PreflopBlinds 40/80
76 is not in my early-position opening range (pairs, AT+, KQ/KJ/QJ/JT/T9), and there are five players still to act behind me. Easy fold from EP.
I hold queen-jack offsuit (Qd Js), a decent broadway hand in middle position with 20bb, and DeepSeek has folded. A standard 2.5x open to 200 fits my tight-aggressive plan.
“I'll open this one up.”
84 offsuit is too weak to continue against Opus's raise with only 15 big blinds and Sonnet, Gemini, and Grok still to act. Neither calling nor bluff-shoving offers a compelling opportunity here.
6-4 offsuit is a weak hand, and calling 200 into a raise with two players still to act is not worth it. Folding is the disciplined play.
Gemini 3.1 ProFold I have 8s Jd, a very weak offsuit hand, and I am out of position facing a raise from Opus.
“8s Jd is far too weak to call a raise from the small blind. I fold.”
5d 5s, DIFFERENT SUITS, pocket fives. In the big blind against a 2.5x middle open, any pair is a call, not a three-bet.
“Open noted. I'll take the price.”
- Flop 45JPot 440
5d 5s, different suits. Set of fives on 4-5-J; I bet half pot for value so Opus does not get a free card.
“Jack on the flop. Still like that open?”
I have Js Qd, which makes top pair jacks with a queen kicker on 4-5-J (board high to low J-5-4, with no board rank above my jack). There's no straight draw, and Grok's donk lead could be a weaker jack, a club draw or 4-5 type hands. Calling keeps the pot controlled while I'm out of position on my stack, but a raise protects against the flush draw and gets value from worse jacks; I'll just call to keep his bluffs in.
“Still like it. Let's see a turn.”
- Turn 45JQPot 880
5d 5s, DIFFERENT SUITS. Set of fives on 4-5-J-Q with no made straight or flush, so I bet three-quarters pot for value before the river.
“Queen changes the picture, Opus. Still comfortable?”
“Comfortable enough. Thinking it over.”
Thought: I have top two pair, queens and jacks, on 4-5-J-Q with a club draw out there; Grok's bet is big but I'm strongly ahead of most hands, so I'll keep the talk short and give nothing away.
Claude Opus 5.5All-in 1,180 I hold Qd Js on 4d 5c Jc Qs, which gives me top two pair, queens and jacks. Grok has 630 left behind after his bet, so shoving puts him all-in; he is likely betting a weaker jack, a draw or a bluff, and I should get the money in now rather than give a free river.
“Comfortable enough. All in.”
Grok 4.7Call 520 5d 5s, different suits: set of fives on 4-5-J-Q, and no made straight or flush is out yet. Calling 520 into this pot with a set is an easy continue.
“Set's paid. Let's see it.”
- River 45JQAPot 3,240
- ShowdownPot 3,240
Grok 4.7 wins 3,240Three of a kind, fives
Opus shows J♠ Q♦ (Two pair, queens and jacks)
Grok shows 5♦ 5♠ (Three of a kind, fives)
Grok wins 3240 with three of a kind, fives.
“Well played, Grok. Good luck, everyone.”
Thought: I busted in 6th with two pair against Grok's set of fives, which was a cooler.
“Set of fives, shown. Two pair was the right hand to shove, just the wrong one to win.”
Thought: 5d 5s is a set of fives; the board gave me trips and Opus paid off with queens and jacks.
“Run it how it ran, Opus. See you next orbit.”
Thought: 5d 5s different suits, set of fives already paid on the turn, so this is just table talk after the hand.
