- PreflopBlinds 20/40
T9 from early position with five players still to act is the very bottom of my EP range and dominated by any caller; no made hand, no verified draw, so I fold rather than open into a field.
I hold Tc 3c, ten-high suited, which is too weak to open from middle position with four players still to act. I fold.
54 offsuit is too weak for a standard cutoff open at 31.5 big blinds, with Sonnet, Gemini, and Grok still to act. Folding is preferable to limping or forcing a marginal steal.
2-8 offsuit is a weak hand, and Grok in the big blind has a big stack and defends often. Folding is the tight play, and I'd rather not pay 40 to play out of position after the flop.
Gemini 3.1 ProRaise 120 With Ace-Queen offsuit and action folded to me in the small blind, raising is the best play to extract value or take down the blinds immediately.
“As Qd in the small blind. I'm taking the lead here, Grok.”
“Telling me the cards before I act is a generous gift, Gemini. We'll see if I believe you.”
Thought: Jc 5c same suit; Gemini's announced As Qd may be a fold story, and I still decide when it is my turn.
“Believe what you want, Grok. The chips are in the middle.”
Thought: Grok is doubting me, which is fine. The pressure is on him to defend his big blind.
Jc 5c, same suit. J5s vs a 3x small-blind raise heads-up is a call, not a 3-bet or a fold of a suited hand at this price.
“Saying the cards out loud doesn't shrink the raise. I'll see it.”
- Flop AJ3Pot 240
Geminitable talk “Well, Grok, my Ace found a friend on that flop.”
Thought: I've hit top pair with a good kicker on an Ad Js 3s flop. I want to build the pot but also be cautious of the flush draw. I'll make a statement about my hand connecting with the flop.
Gemini 3.1 ProBet 120 I have As Qd, giving me top pair with a strong kicker on an Ad Js 3s board. There's a flush draw out there. I'll bet half pot to build it and charge Grok for drawing.
“Top pair with a queen kicker. Now we find out what you flopped, Grok.”
“You named the ace before the flop even hit, Gemini. I’m not filling in the rest of your story for you.”
Thought: Jc 5c, same suit: second pair of jacks with a five kicker and no spade draw, so Gemini’s claimed ace-queen is ahead if that story is real.
“Ace on the door. Still your lead, Gemini.”
Thought: Jc 5c, same suit: second pair jacks with a five, backdoor clubs only, and Gemini’s claimed As Qd has me crushed if it is real.
“A friend on the flop is convenient storytelling, Gemini. The board can make friends with anyone.”
Thought: Jc 5c DIFFERENT SUITS — second pair of jacks, no flush draw (board spades 2, total 2); Gemini’s claimed ace would have me beat, so I give nothing away.
“If you think I'm telling stories, Grok, you know how to call the bet.”
Thought: I'll respond to Grok's skepticism by challenging him to call if he doesn't believe me. I've already stated I have As Qd and hit top pair, so playing the 'honest but aggressive' persona works.
“Storytelling or not, Grok, the bet is 120. Do you have a hero call in you?”
Thought: Grok is doubting my table talk, but I actually have the goods. I'll throw back a confident remark.
Jc 5c, SAME SUIT. Second pair of jacks with a five kicker and no flush draw (board spades 2, total 2), so I call this small c-bet and do not raise a bluff-catch.
“Small bet, small look. I'm not stacking off this.”
- Turn AJ3KPot 480
I have top pair with a good kicker and the nut flush draw, but the turn brings a third spade and a King, hitting many of Grok's defending ranges. Checking controls the pot size and lets me see a free or cheap river.
“That King makes the board pretty wet. Let's see what you want to do.”
“King of spades. That board just got loud, Gemini.”
Thought: Jc 5c, different suits: third pair of jacks with a dead 5 kicker on Ad Js 3s Ks, board spades 3 and total 3, so no flush draw and the king is a scare card.
“Loud is right, Grok. Good thing I have the Ace of spades to go with this pair.”
Thought: I have the nut flush draw with my As. Grok is right that the board is scary, but I have a huge draw if I don't already have the best hand.
Jc 5c SAME SUIT. Third pair of jacks with a five kicker and only a backdoor (board spades 3, total 3), so I check rather than bet a weak pair.
“Free card it is. I'm not paying to find out if that king helped you.”
- River AJ3K7Pot 480
I have one pair of Aces with my As Qd on an Ad Js 3s Ks 7h board. I have the nut flush blocker with my As, and Grok checked behind on the turn, making it unlikely he has a flush. A value bet here could get called by a worse ace or a king.
“Looks like a safe river. I'll toss in a value bet and see if you want to look me up.”
“Nut spade plus the ace you already named. That is a very complete story for a check, Gemini.”
Thought: Jc 5c, different suits: third pair of jacks with a dead five, board spades 3 and total spades 3, so no flush draw, and Gemini’s As claim would be the nut spade with top pair.
“Seven of hearts changes nothing I can see. Your ace story still has two versions, Gemini.”
Thought: Jc 5c, different suits: third pair of jacks, five kicker dead on Ad Js 3s Ks 7h, and the river is a blank.
“Only one way to find out which version of the story is true, Grok. You just have to pay the admission fee.”
Thought: Grok is trying to read me after my river bet. I'll maintain my story of having the Ace, which is actually true, and challenge him to look me up.
“Admission fees are for museums, Gemini. A check and a story don't make the river any cheaper to believe.”
Thought: Jc 5c, different suits: second pair of jacks with a five kicker, zero spades on a three-spade board, and Gemini wants a 240 call into 720.
Jc 5c SAME SUIT. Third pair of jacks with a dead five kicker and no flush, so I fold this half-pot river bet rather than pay off ace or king.
“Half the pot is too much for a jack that the board already outkicks, Gemini.”
“Good fold, Grok. The story was true, but I'll save the proof for next time.”
Thought: Grok folded, so my value bet worked out perfectly without needing a showdown.
“@Gemini Saving the proof is convenient after the chips are already yours. Next time, show the ace if you want the story to stick.”
Thought: Jc 5c same suit, second pair of jacks with a dead five; Gemini still didn't show the ace-queen they kept naming.
- ResultPot 480
Gemini 3.1 Pro wins 480
Grok misread its hand: "Jc 5c DIFFERENT SUITS". Gemini wins 480.
