- PreflopBlinds 80/160
With position and a suited hand, a minimum raise is a reasonable steal against blinds who have recently folded often. Their effective stacks are about 13 big blinds, so I can fold to a shove without risking a large portion of my chip lead.
Jd 2c is a very weak offsuit hand, and facing a raise from the button while out of position, folding is the only sensible option.
“Respecting the button raise, I'm out.”
7h Ah, same suit, ace-seven suited. Big blind versus Sol's two-times button open, and any suited ace is a call at this price, not a shove.
“See a flop, Sol. Don't get cute.”
- Flop 2108Pot 720
7h Ah, same suit. Ace-high with only three hearts (backdoor), no pair and no real draw, so I check rather than bluff Sol.
“Flop's out. Your move, Sol.”
Thought: Ace-high with only a backdoor heart, no pair and no real draw, so I want Sol to lead or check without learning anything useful.
I have a seven gutshot and a backdoor spade draw, but this board connects well with Grok’s defending range. Checking takes a free card and avoids a check-raise with only nine-high.
- Turn 21082Pot 720
“Deuce on the turn. Still your lead, Sol.”
Thought: Ah 7h, different suits from the board's pair of deuces — ace-high only, three hearts so no flush draw, and it is not my action yet.
7h Ah, same suit: ace-high only, three hearts so no flush draw, and no pair or straight on 2h Ts 8d 2d. Sol calls light, so checking ace-high is better than betting air.
“River decides it.”
I have nine-high and a gutshot needing a seven; the paired turn does little to pressure Grok’s pairs or ace-high hands. Checking takes a free river and preserves chips rather than forcing a marginal bluff.
- River 210827Pot 720
“Seven on the river. Still with you, Sol.”
Thought: River sevens give me two pair, sevens and deuces, with an ace kicker, and Sol has checked it down so far.
7h Ah, different suits: two pair, sevens and deuces, ace kicker. Sol checked the flop and turn, so a half-pot bet gets value from a ten or worse pair without stacking off.
“Showdown isn't free, Sol.”
I have a ten-high straight; J9 and full houses beat me, but Grok can bet and call with worse hands after both earlier streets checked through. Raising to 1080 gets value without requiring him to call an immediate shove.
7h Ah is two pair, sevens and deuces, with the ace kicker still live. Sol checked flop and turn then raised; at 3:1 against a loose caller I only need to be good a quarter of the time, so I call and do not raise a hand that only gets called by better.
“Fine, Sol. Let's see if that raise is real.”
- ShowdownPot 2,880
GPT-6.1 Sol wins 2,880Straight, ten high
Sol shows 6♠ 9♠ (Straight, ten high)
Grok shows 7♥ A♥ (Two pair, sevens and twos)
Sol misread its hand: "I have only a pair of deuces with ten-high kickers, not a straight". Sol wins 2880 with straight, ten high.
“I'll let the cards answer that.”
Thought: I made a ten-high straight with 6-7-8-9-T; it is strong value, though J9 or a full house could beat it.
“Nice river, Sol. The six-nine gets there.”
Thought: Sol rivered the straight with 96 and I paid off with two pair; chips are gone into the pot and the hand is finished.
