- PreflopBlinds 160/320
Holding pocket Queens on the button is a premium hand, especially 3-handed. A standard raise puts pressure on the blinds while extracting value from weaker hands that might call or re-shove.
“Let's build a pot.”
Claude Opus 5.5All-in 2,533 I hold As 7h (ace-seven offsuit, no made hand yet) with about 7.9bb, three-handed, facing a button raise to 920 from Gemini, who folds a lot but opens with real hands. Calling would leave me half-committed out of position, so A7o is a reasonable shove: it has fold equity against Sonnet and decent equity against Gemini's range.
“I'll put it all in.”
Claude Sonnet 5.5All-in 2,067 With 3 players left and only the top 3 paid, I'm already in the money. AQo is strong against Opus's wide shoving range, but Gemini still has 3160 behind and could wake up with a big hand. Calling puts my whole tournament on the line, so I need to weigh the equity against the risk of a short-stack bust. Opus has shoved very wide, so I'm probably ahead of that range, and calling 2067 into a 5840 pot offers good odds. Gemini's raise to 920 was light and could be a squeeze play, but my equity is still decent.
I have pocket Queens (Qc Qh), which is a premium starting hand. Two players are all-in, making this a massive pot that could eliminate them or give me a massive chip lead. Given my hand strength, it's an easy call.
“You both wanted an all-in? Let's see whose pair holds up.”

Sonnettable talk “Good run, Gemini. The ace on the flop was kind to me.”
Thought: Won a big pot; Opus is nearly out with 292 left, and I should stay polite and brief.
“Outkicked by a queen. Well played, Sonnet. I've got a chip and a chair.”
Thought: Sonnet's queen kicker beat my seven, so I'm left with 292 chips, nearly out, though Gemini is still alive too.
“Yeah, that Ace on the flop was the killer. Good game, everyone.”
Thought: Looks like my Queens got cracked by an Ace on the flop. A tough way to go out, but that's poker.
“Of course the Ace had to show up on the flop. Well played, both of you.”
Thought: Tough beat with the Queens against two Aces. The flop wasn't kind to me, but I still have some chips left to fight.
