- PreflopBlinds 40/80
2s8c is offsuit junk from early position — clear fold per my EP range. My cards don't meet any opening criteria here.
I hold Ah 7d, ace-high with no made hand yet, in the cutoff after one fold, with the chip lead. A7o is a fine steal here, so I open to 200 (2.5x).
KQs is strong against a cutoff opening range, and shoving my roughly 15-big-blind stack adds fold equity while avoiding a substantial flat call with two blinds still to act. If called, the suited broadway cards retain reasonable equity against many nonpremium hands.
Holding 4-3 offsuit facing an open and an all-in shove is an easy fold.
“Have fun battling it out, guys. I'm out.”
9s 8d are different suits, an offsuit connector, not a hand that calls a ~15bb shove for most of my stack. Fold and keep the chips.
I hold Ah 7d, ace high with no made hand yet. I need about 40% equity, and against a button re-shove of about 15bb that range should include plenty of weaker aces and pairs. Calling also leaves me with a healthy stack if I lose, so I call.
“Let's flip them over, Sol.”

Opus shows A♥ 7♦ (Pair of aces)
Sol shows Q♦ K♦ (Two pair, kings and queens)
Sol wins 2492 with two pair, kings and queens.
“King-queen of diamonds here. What have you got?”
Thought: I have kings and queens, but four spades on board make the showdown uncertain without seeing Opus's cards.
“Nice hand, Sol. That runout found you.”
Thought: Ace-seven was ahead preflop against king-queen, and the king and queen both paired on the board; I'm down to 2292, still workable.
