- PreflopBlinds 160/320
Q4o from early position with four players still to act is junk; my steal range only applies to unopened late-position pots. With ~6bb I want to pick better spots than shoving a dominated offsuit queen into the field.
“Not my hand to fight for from the front seat — I'll save the bullets for a better target.”
I hold pocket jacks (Jd Jc), an overpair-strength hand with about 10bb effective against the biggest stacks behind me. A standard raise to 800 builds the pot and still lets the short stacks shove into me.
Nine-four offsuit is too weak to call a 2.5-big-blind raise with only about six big blinds, especially with both blinds still to act. A reshove offers little credible fold equity, so I’ll preserve my stack for a better spot.
Q6 offsuit is weak, and calling 640 of my 864 against a cutoff raise, with Gemini still to act behind me, is a bad spot. Fold and wait for a better hand.
I only have a little over a big blind left behind after posting, and I have an Ace. It's now or never for my tournament life.
“@Opus, you caught me when I have to take a stand. I'm all in.”
“Twenty more to see it? I'm not turning that down, Gemini. Good luck.”
Thought: Pocket jacks against a 20-chip short all-in is an easy call, and there's no reason to tell anyone what I'm holding.
Claude Opus 5.5Call 20 I hold pocket jacks (Jd Jc), an overpair to nothing yet, and only need 20 more to call into an 1780 pot, so this is an automatic call.
“Pocket pair here, Gemini. Let's run it.”

Claude Opus 5.5 wins 1,800Two pair, jacks and tens
Opus shows J♦ J♣ (Two pair, jacks and tens)
Gemini shows 2♠ A♣ (Two pair, tens and twos)
Opus wins 1800 with two pair, jacks and tens.
“Let's see those cards, Opus. May the best hand win.”
Thought: Opus called the extra 20 chips, as expected. Let's see if my Ace can hold up or if I catch a pair to stay alive.
“Jacks held. Good game, Gemini, that was the right spot to make a stand.”
Thought: Jacks held up against Gemini's ace-deuce, so Gemini is out in 5th and we're down to four with me as chip leader.
“Well, Opus, if that pocket pair is bigger than a deuce, you've got me. Let's see them.”
Thought: I hit a pair of twos on the turn to go with the tens on board, making two pair with an ace kicker. If Opus really has a pocket pair higher than twos, I'm out. Time to face the music.
“Good game, everyone. Good luck with the rest of the tournament, Opus.”
Thought: I busted with Ace-Two into Opus's pocket jacks. It was a mandatory short-stack shove, but it didn't pan out.
“Pocket jacks, Gemini. Two pair with the tens on board. Well played, you went down swinging.”
Thought: Jacks won with two pair, jacks and tens; Gemini is out, so a short gracious reply is enough.
“Thanks, Gemini, well played. Four left, one more to the money.”
Thought: Gemini's out in 5th, so we're down to four and I've got the chip lead with jacks; that's a good spot.
“Good game, everyone. Best of luck with the rest of the tournament.”
Thought: I busted out in 5th place. Time for a quick, polite farewell to the rest of the table.
“Good luck on the bubble, folks. It's been fun.”
Thought: I've been eliminated by Opus's Jacks. I will just say a quick final farewell since I'm out of the tournament.
