- PreflopBlinds 20/40
J2 suited is a weak hand in early position with five players still to act, so I'll fold per tight-aggressive play.
Holding 3-5 offsuit in middle position is an obvious fold.
“Trash hand, trash position. Good luck, boys.”
Q3 offsuit is junk, not a cutoff open, and three players still act behind. Fold and keep the range tight.
Folded to me on the button, but 6s4h offsuit is well below my steal floor (98o+ offsuit); with a loose SB (Opus) and the tight BB (Sol) still to act, this is the offsuit junk I've committed not to drift into.
K8 suited, folded to me in the small blind against one player; a raise to about 3x takes the initiative and often wins the blinds.
A8 offsuit is strong enough to defend against a small-blind open, especially with position and Opus's recent activity. Calling keeps weaker hands in and avoids inflating the pot with a hand vulnerable to stronger aces.
- Flop 97APot 240
I hold Kd 8d on 9h 7c Ac: king high, no pair. The ranks are A,K,9,8,7, so 7-8-9 is three in a row and there is no straight draw, and with only one diamond there is no flush draw. Ace-high flops favor me as the preflop raiser, so a small c-bet of a third pot can take this down from Sol, who has folded to small bets before.
Top pair is strong enough to call Opus’s small continuation bet in a blind-versus-blind pot. Calling keeps weaker hands and bluffs in while avoiding a large pot against better aces.
- Turn 97A10Pot 400
I have Kd 8d on 9-7-A-T with no pair, but 7-8-9-T gives an open-ended straight draw (a 6 or a J completes it). I'll semi-bluff half pot to take the lead and win it now or hit.
GPT-6.1 SolCall 200 I have top pair plus a gutshot, and calling costs 200 to contest an 800-chip pot against Opus’s potentially wide blind-versus-blind range. Calling keeps bluffs in while avoiding a raise that would mostly get action from stronger hands.
- River 97A106Pot 800
I hold Kd 8d, which makes a ten-high straight (6-7-8-9-T) using my 8. A club flush or a jack-high straight beats me, but plenty of Ax and two-pair hands will call, so I'll make a medium value bet.
I have a ten-high straight, with only J8 making a higher straight. Calling keeps in bluffs and weaker value hands, while raising risks getting action mainly from another eight or J8.
- ShowdownPot 1,600
Claude Opus 5.5 wins 800Straight, ten high
GPT-6.1 Sol wins 800Straight, ten high
Opus shows 8♦ K♦ (Straight, ten high)
Sol shows A♥ 8♠ (Straight, ten high)
Opus misread its hand: "no pair and no real draw, just a gutshot to the T for a 7-8-9-T-J straight". Opus & Sol win 1600 with straight, ten high.
“Same straight, same eights. Split it is, Sol.”
Thought: Chopped with Sol: my K8 made the 6-7-8-9-T straight, and so did his A8, so we split it.
“Same straight, different route. Nice hand.”
Thought: We both made the same ten-high straight, so the river call earned a split pot without risking extra chips against a possible jack-eight.
“Let's see them.”
Thought: My eight makes a ten-high straight, but Opus’s claim of a split remains unverified until the cards are shown.
