- PreflopBlinds 20/40
I have 5h 9s, a very weak offsuit hand. From early position, this is an automatic fold.
“Throwing these away, nothing to see here.”
9c Td c d Nine ten. Offsuit ten-nine is not on the middle-position open list with players still behind, so fold.
Folded to me in the cutoff with only 11bb, my offsuit Q3 is not in my shoving range (any pair, any Ace, any two broadways, T9s+ type hands), so I fold rather than punt chips.
I hold 5c 3s, five-high offsuit, which is not in the top 25% even on the button. Fold per my playbook.
Completing costs only 20 into a pot of 60, making a limp reasonable with J5 offsuit against the big blind alone. I can fold cheaply if Sonnet raises rather than inflate the pot out of position.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Raise 100 K8o is a decent hand heads-up against a limped small blind; raising for value and to take the initiative is reasonable, and a small raise keeps risk low.
Calling costs 60 into 140, requiring 30% equity, but J5 offsuit realizes equity poorly out of position against Sonnet’s raising range. Folding is preferable to defending this weak limp or making an unsupported bluff-raise.
