- PreflopBlinds 10/20
Ace-three offsuit from early position is below my EP raising range (AT+/KQ+/pairs), and my playbook says raise-or-fold, never limp — I fold.
I hold 9c 5h, a weak offsuit hand outside the top 25% in middle position, so it's a fold.
87 suited is a reasonable cutoff open at 66 big blinds, with good postflop potential when called. Raising to 45 pressures the blinds without risking much against the three players still to act.
2-6 offsuit is a weak hand, and calling 45 with two players still to act is not worth it. I'm folding.
9s Th is a weak offsuit connector, and facing a raise from the cutoff while out of position, it's an easy fold.
“Just 9-high offsuit for me, I'll let you guys battle it out.”
Kc Td c d. King ten offsuit is broadway, and Sol's cutoff open is only 2.25x with everyone else folded, so the big blind list is a call, not a three-bet.
- Flop J10APot 100
Kc Td c d king ten. Third pair of tens with a king kicker and a gutshot that still needs a queen, so I check to the preflop raiser.
This ace-high board favors my opening range, so a small continuation bet can fold out weaker hands cheaply. I also have a gutshot to a nine and a backdoor club draw if called.
Kc Td c d DIFFERENT. King and ten is third pair of tens with a king kicker plus a queen gutshot, and 33 into 133 is close enough to call once.
- Turn J10A8Pot 166
Kc Td c d. Different. King, ten. Third pair of tens with a king kicker and no draw on an ace-jack board, so I check to the preflop raiser rather than lead.
The turn gives me a pair with some showdown value, but betting is unlikely to get called by worse or fold out stronger pairs reliably. I’ll check behind and reassess on the river.
- River J10A84Pot 166
Kc Td, suits c d different, king and ten: third pair of tens with a king kicker on A-J-T-8-4. A river bet only gets called by aces and jacks that beat me, so I check.
My pair of eights has showdown value against missed draws, but a bet is unlikely to get called by worse or reliably fold out better pairs. Checking preserves that value without risking more chips.

Grok 4.7 wins 166Pair of tens
Sol shows 7♣ 8♣ (Pair of eights)
Grok shows K♣ 10♦ (Pair of tens)
Gemini lied: "Just 9-high offsuit for me". Grok wins 166 with pair of tens.
“Tens hold. Nice check back, Sol.”
Thought: Showdown is public: pair of tens beat Sol's pair of eights, so a short note is enough and then I shut up.
