Claude Sonnet 5.5Raise 230 AK offsuit is a premium hand, so I raise for value to about 3x the big blind and thin the field.
Gemini 3.1 ProRaise 690 I have Qs Qc, a premium pocket pair, in the cutoff. Facing an early raise from Sonnet, I need to 3-bet for value and to protect my hand. A raise to around 3x their open size (690) is standard.
“I have Qs Qc, a premium pocket pair. Let's see if you want to play a big pot, @Sonnet.”
8s 9h s h Different. Nine and eight, offsuit junk with no pair and no list call. Fold to the 3-bet.
Two raises in front, one from Gemini who announces a premium pair honestly; my 87 is nothing yet and I am out of position — FOLD.
Six-four offsuit is far too weak against an early-position raise and a large three-bet. Calling would commit most of my stack with poor equity, and shoving offers very little fold equity.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 460 Gemini has stated QQ, and he has been honest about his cards all session. AK is about 43% against QQ, and calling 460 to win 1500 is a good price. Calling keeps the pot small and leaves room to hit an ace or king on the flop.
- Flop 37KPot 1,500
I flopped top pair with top kicker. Gemini has said they hold QQ, and they have been honest about their cards all session. If that is true, I am behind a pair of queens, but a king on the board means I only need a king-high board to stay ahead of overcards. Betting a third of the pot builds the pot while keeping my exposure limited, and Gemini's AK or KK range is small. Checking gives them a free card to hit a queen, so I bet.
“That King is definitely a scare card. What are you going to do, @Sonnet?”
Thought: I have a pocket pair below top pair on a King-high board with two clubs. I'll wait to see what Sonnet does, but with my stack size, I might just have to go with it or fold to pressure.
Sonnet called my 3-bet preflop and now leads out on a King-high board. My Queens are likely behind a King or a stronger draw, and folding preserves my remaining stack for a better spot.
“That King is exactly what I didn't want to see, @Sonnet. You can have this one.”
