- PreflopBlinds 10/20
9 and 2 is true junk — no pair, no Ace, and one rank below 6. From early position with five players still to act, I fold rather than pay 20 to see a flop out of position.
I hold Qs Jd, queen-high offsuit broadway, which is in the top 25% for a middle-position open at 6-max with only one player folded ahead. A standard 2.5x open to 50 fits my plan.
Five-three offsuit is too weak to call a middle-position raise, especially with the button and both blinds still to act. It also lacks the blockers and playability to make a good three-bet bluff.
Suited connectors on the button against a middle-position open, with deep stacks and two blinds still to act. Calling is cheap and keeps the hand playable after the flop.
I have 5s 4h, an offsuit hand which is very weak and disconnected. Facing a raise and a call out of position, this is a trivial fold.
Ah 6h is suited ace-six, and the big blind defends any suited hand against a 2.5x open. Calling 30 keeps the price right with Sonnet already in.

Ah 6h on Kc 8s 6s is third pair with an ace kicker, no flush draw, multiway and out of position to the raiser. Check and see what they do.
QsJd on 6s-Kc-8s: Queen-high, no pair. With one spade I have no flush draw, only a backdoor. Straight check: 9TJQK has J, Q and K present but 9 and T absent, so that's no draw. Three-way on a wet board with a weak hand and Sonnet acting behind me, so I check and give up.
I have a pair of eights, the middle pair on a board of 6s Kc 8s, plus a backdoor diamond draw. Both opponents checked, so I'll bet half pot for value and to charge flush draws and overcards.
Ah 6h is third pair with an ace kicker and no flush draw on a two-spade board, and Opus can still raise behind Sonnet's half-pot bet. That is a fold, not a call or a raise.
I hold Qs Jd on 6s Kc 8s: queen-high with no pair; the backdoor spade only counts my Qs, giving 3 spades (no flush draw), and the 89TJQ window is missing 9 and T, so I have no straight draw. Facing a bet from an aggressive player, folding is fine.
