- PreflopBlinds 40/80
I have 2s 3h, an offsuit hand that is extremely weak, especially in early position. Folding is the only correct play here.
“Just trash cards this time.”
Jd 8c is offsuit jack-eight, not on the middle-position open list, and four players still act behind. Fold.
Folded to me in the cutoff, but 23 is junk and my 19bb stack is well above the short shove zone, so I FOLD rather than open into three live players.
I hold Kh 3d on the button, folded to me, with about 16.75bb, and K3 offsuit is a reasonable steal against the two blinds. A small raise to 200 (2.5x) takes the pot often and keeps folding to a 3-bet cheap.
84 offsuit is too weak to defend against the button raise out of position, especially with Sonnet still to act. Folding avoids investing more with poor equity and little postflop playability.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 120 Getting 320 into a 200 raise means calling 120 to win 320, about 27% equity needed. 87o is suited-connector-like and has decent playability, and Opus has been raising light on the button. Calling is cheap, so I'll call.
- Flop 9A2Pot 440
I have only 8-7 high with a gutshot draw (needs a 10 or 6 for a straight) on an ace-high board against a preflop raiser. Checking is cheap and keeps the pot small, and I can still catch a draw.
Kh3d on 9h-Ah-2c: no pair, king high; hearts: Kh 9h Ah = 3 incl. mine, a backdoor flush draw. Straight windows A2345 have A,2,3 = 3 present, no draw. An ace-high dry board favors my button raise, so a small c-bet should take it down often.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 147 I have an open-ended straight draw (8-7 with a 9 on board needs a 6 and T or 10-J) but no pair, and the pot odds are good: 147 to win 587, about 4 to 1. Calling is clearly right, and raising would risk too much with a draw only.
- Turn 9A28Pot 734
Claude Sonnet 5.5Bet 245 I have a pair of eights with a straight draw (needs a 10 or 6 for 6-7-8-9, or 10-J for a different straight) on an ace-high board, so my hand is medium strength. A modest bet takes the initiative and may get a worse pair or ace-high to fold, while a check risks letting Opus bet again.
I hold Kh 3d on a 9h Ah 2c 8d board, giving me king-high with no pair. On hearts I have Kh, and the board has 9h and Ah, so that's 3 hearts with no flush draw. The A2345 window has A, 2 and 3 present, so there is no straight draw. Sonnet called the flop and now leads the turn, which means I'm beaten often and a bluff-raise into a caller is risky, so I fold.
- ResultPot 734
Claude Sonnet 5.5 wins 734
Sonnet misread its hand: "I have a weak gutshot-type hand on an ace-high board". Sonnet wins 734.
