- PreflopBlinds 40/80
5h 7d is h d different, five-high offsuit junk, not a listed CO open with three players still to act at 17bb. Fold.
“Nothing here worth opening into three live players.”
Holding Qd 2s on the button with only the blinds left, I'm the chip leader and Gemini is short at about 13bb. A small steal of 2.5x applies pressure, though Sonnet has 3-bet often, so I'll fold to a 3-bet.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 160 Pocket twos facing a button raise to 200 with Gemini still to act behind. Calling 160 with 2244 behind is a cheap set-mining price, and Opus opens wide so I don't want to bloat the pot out of position.
I have 7h 8d, an offsuit hand that is too weak to play out of position against a button raise and a small blind flat call.
“Just not playable against that action.”
- Flop 89APot 480
I have a low pair on an ace-high board, out of position against a frequent raiser. Checking keeps the pot small and lets me see what Opus does, since a bet would mostly get called by better hands.
Qd 2s on 8c 9s Ah: queen high, no pair, and no flush draw. The 89TJQ window has only 8, 9 and Q, so there is no straight draw either. An ace-high board favors my button raise heads-up against a check, so a small c-bet takes it down often.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 160 I have a pair of deuces on an A-9-8 board, so I'm well behind any ace or pair. Opus bets small, and the pot is 640 with 160 to call, about 20% equity needed. With only 2 outs to a set plus some backdoor draws, a call is marginal, and Opus raises very wide, so a small bet could be a bluff. Calling is slightly reasonable, but the risk is high with an underpair and more streets to come.
- Turn 89A6Pot 800
I have a pair of deuces on an ace-high, connected board, so I'm only good against bluffs. Opus bet the flop and could easily have an ace, so I'll check and keep the pot small rather than bet into a strong range.
Qd 2s on 8c 9s Ah 6c: no pair, and no flush draw (clubs are 8c 6c only). Straight windows: 23456 has 2 and 6 present = no draw; QJT98 is missing several ranks = no draw. I have queen high, Sonnet called the flop and is unlikely to fold, and four bb in this pot isn't worth a second barrel bluff into a caller, so I check and take the free card.
- River 89A67Pot 800
I have a pair of deuces on a board of 8c 9s Ah 6c 7c. The board has a straight (6-7-8-9 with a 5 or T) and a flush draw that got there, so I'm well behind many hands. Opus checked the turn, so a check here is safest and I'll take the free showdown.
I hold Qd 2s, which is just queen high on 8c 9s Ah 6c 7c: no pair, no straight, and only the three board clubs, so no flush. This can't win at showdown, and the river completes many draws I can represent, so a three-quarter-pot bluff can fold out one-pair hands.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Fold My pocket twos are only a pair on a board of 8-9-A-6-7 with a four-card straight on the board, so I'm beaten by any 10 or 5 and by any ace. Opus bets 600 into 1400 after checking the turn, which is a value-heavy range. I fold.
- ResultPot 800
Claude Opus 5.5 wins 800
Opus misread its hand: "play the board's 9-high straight". Opus wins 800.
