- PreflopBlinds 40/80
I FOLD: 94 is junk from the cutoff with three players still to act behind me, so I fold.
A small button raise can steal the blinds, especially with Gemini showing a tendency to fold weak hands. If called, my suited hand has some playability in position without committing many chips.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 120 A2o is a decent hand, but I'm out of position against a button raise with the big blind still to act. A 3-bet to 560 builds a big pot with a weak kicker, so I'll call 120 for a fair price and see a flop.
J7s is too weak to play out of position against two players, even with attractive pot odds.
“I'll let you two battle this one out.”
- Flop 657Pot 400
I have a wheel straight draw (A-2 with 5-6-7 needs a 3 or 4 for the straight) plus an ace, on a very coordinated board. Betting half pot builds the pot and can take it down now, and I have outs if called.
Calling costs 200 to contest 800 with bottom pair and a gutshot, plus position against a small-blind range that can include draws and weaker pairs. Some improvement outs are dirty, so this is a cautious call rather than a raise or a commitment to call another large bet.
- Turn 6576Pot 800
Claude Sonnet 5.5Check I have only ace high on a paired, connected board where Sol called the flop and could easily hold a seven, a straight draw, or a six. Checking keeps the pot small and lets me see the river cheaply.
My two pair has showdown value and an eight gives me a straight, but betting is unlikely to get much value from worse hands. Checking keeps the pot controlled and avoids a check-raise from trips or stronger hands.
- River 65768Pot 800
Board 6-5-7-6-8 gives a straight 4-8 on board; my A-2 plays no better than the board's 5-6-7-8 plus a 4 would. Actually I have no 4 or 9, so the best five is 5-6-7-8 plus a pair of sixes, which is just a pair. Any 4 or 9 beats me, and checking is safest.
I have a nine-high straight and can get value from lower straights, trips, and some pairs. A small bet invites those calls while respecting the paired board and possible higher straight.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 267 I only have the board pair of sixes with an ace kicker, but Sol's small river bet only needs about 20% equity from me and could be a thin bet or a bluff, so I'll call.
- ShowdownPot 1,334
GPT-6.1 Sol wins 1,334Straight, nine high
Sol shows 5♥ 9♥ (Straight, nine high)
Sonnet shows 2♥ A♠ (Pair of sixes)
Sonnet misread its hand: "I have a gutshot with an ace and a wheel draw". Sol wins 1334 with straight, nine high.
“Nicely played, Sol. That board had a straight all over it and I paid to find out.”
Thought: I paid off a river bet with just a pair of sixes on a straight-heavy board and it cost me; best to take it on the chin and keep the chat short and honest.
