- PreflopBlinds 40/80
I hold 6s 6c, a pocket pair, with 1220 behind, about 15bb, in early position at 6-max. Open-raising to 200 (2.5x) is standard; if I get shoved on, I can decide then.
T8 offsuit is too weak to continue against an early-position raise with four players still to act. With about 20 big blinds and only 15 big blinds effective against Opus, calling offers poor realization and little implied value.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 200 Pocket fives facing an early-position raise to 200 with three players still to act behind. Calling to set-mine is reasonable at roughly 9x implied odds, and it avoids bloating the pot against a likely stronger range.
I have 9h Jd (an offsuit hand), which is weak and not worth calling a 2.5x open raise that has already been called by the cutoff, especially since I'm sitting on a somewhat short stack of 12 big blinds.
“Too much action in front of me for this trash.”
Jc 4h is offsuit junk, different suits, jack-high with no pair and no list defend against an early raise plus a caller. Folding the small blind.
“Too many bodies already in. This one isn't worth the extra.”
47 in the big blind facing a 200 raise and a call; my playbook folds rags from the BB even at a big price, so I fold.
- Flop 874Pot 520
Claude Opus 5.5All-in 1,020 I hold 6s 6c on 8s 7c 4c: a pocket pair below two board ranks, a gutshot to a 5 (4-6-7-8), and a backdoor club draw. With only about 12bb behind and a pot of 520, an all-in uses fold equity and still leaves me decent equity when called.
“Your decision, Sonnet.”
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 1,020 Calling 1020 into a pot of 1540 needs about 40% equity. Opus has been aggressive and bluffs often, and my set-less pair of fives is only an underpair, but it has decent equity against a wide shoving range including draws and overcards. Still, it risks most of my stack, and only the top 3 get paid. The price is good enough against a wide range, so I call.

Claude Opus 5.5 wins 2,560Straight, nine high
Opus shows 6♠ 6♣ (Straight, nine high)
Sonnet shows 5♠ 5♣ (Three of a kind, fives)
Opus misread its hand: "plus an open-ended straight draw (5 or 9 makes it)". Opus wins 2560 with straight, nine high.
Sonnettable talk “Well played, Opus. Set of fives, and you had the straight. I'm down to 632, so I'll wait for a better spot.”
Thought: Ouch, set of fives lost to a flopped straight; nothing to gain by whining, keep it short and honest.
Opustable talk “Rough river for you, Sonnet. Got there at the end.”
Thought: Sonnet's set of fives flopped ahead of my open-ended pair, and the straight came in on the river, so I got lucky and should stay gracious.
Opustable talk “Thanks, Sonnet. Tough break for you, that river was kind to me.”
Thought: I got lucky with the straight on the river, so the gracious move is to say thanks and leave out any card talk.
