- PreflopBlinds 10/20
Early position with 32, which is outside my EP raising range, so I fold rather than limp or raise into five players.
I hold 9c 8d, offsuit and unpaired, in middle position at 6-max with four players left to act. Following a tight-aggressive plan, this is a marginal open, but the deep stacks make a small 2.5x open acceptable; still, folding is the disciplined choice.
84 suited is too weak to open from the cutoff with Sonnet on the button and both blinds still to act. At roughly 71 big blinds, there is no need to force a marginal steal.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Raise 60 Q-T suited on the button with only the two blinds left to act is a clear raise; a raise to about 3x the big blind takes the initiative.
I have 6h 4c, a very weak offsuit hand. Facing a raise from the button and being out of position, folding is the only standard play.
“Easy fold for me here.”
77 is a pocket pair in the big blind against a button open to 3x, and the list says call a pair rather than 3-bet or fold. Calling 40 into 90 is the right price.
“Button tax, I'll see a flop.”
- Flop 72JPot 130
7h 7d is h d DIFFERENT. Set of sevens on a dry J-7-2 rainbow. Sonnet calls light, so I bet three-quarters pot for value instead of checking it through.
“Dry board. Price of admission just went up.”
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 98 I have second pair (queen with a ten kicker) plus a backdoor flush draw and gutshot-ish outs, getting good pot odds against a half-pot bet. Calling is cheap and keeps the pot manageable.
- Turn 72J3Pot 326
7h 7d is h d DIFFERENT, a set of sevens on 7s 2d Jh 3s. Sonnet calls light, so I bet three-quarters pot for value rather than check a monster.
“Rent goes up again. Pay it or leave the keys.”
Claude Sonnet 5.5Call 245 I have a gutshot straight draw to the nine-high board Q-J-T-7 and a pair of... actually Queen high with a Jack pair on board; I hold Q and T with a J on board, so a queen-high gutshot needs a 9 or K (K-Q-J-T needs 9 or K, 8 for 7-8-9? no). Outs: 9 and K make straights (8 outs), plus diamonds backdoor, and pairing Q or T gives pair. Pot odds: calling 245 into 571 needs about 30% equity; with about 8 straight outs plus pair outs around 14 clean outs I'm near 30% on one card, plus implied odds. Calling is reasonable.
- River 72J3KPot 816
7h 7d is h d DIFFERENT, set of sevens on 7s 2d Jh 3s Kc, no flush. Sonnet has called two streets, so a three-quarter pot bet gets value from kings and strong jacks without shoving.
“Last card, last price. Stay or step off.”
I hold Q-T with a gutshot-turned-straight: board 7 2 J 3 K gives me only queen-ten, which is just a missed draw, so I have Q-high. Grok has bet every street, and I can only beat a bluff. The pot odds are 1428 to 612, about 70/30, so I need roughly 30% equity. Q-high is a bluff-catcher that beats few value hands, but Grok's steady pot-sized sizing across streets looks like a strong holding with a K or J. I'll fold.
- ResultPot 816
Grok 4.7 wins 816
Sonnet misread its hand: "I have a flush draw plus a gutter and overcard". Grok wins 816.
