- PreflopBlinds 10/20
I have 2c 4h, an offsuit hand, which is essentially unplayable from early position.
Qh As h s DIFFERENT. AQo offsuit is a standard middle-position open, so I raise to 2.5x.
Facing a raise with K4 in the cutoff, dominated rags fold; a 2.5x open from middle position shows strength and my kicker is weak.
I hold 9d 5d, a suited gapper with no made hand, on the button against Grok's open from middle position. Deep stacks and position make a call profitable, and it keeps my VPIP reasonable.
74 suited is too weak to defend from the small blind against a middle-position raise and button call. Even at this price, poor position and Sonnet still to act make realizing equity difficult.
6-3 offsuit is a weak hand that would be out of position against two opponents, so I fold rather than pay 30 to call.

“Low and disconnected. Let's see who wants this one.”
Thought: Flop is 3-5-7 rainbow and I have ace-high with no pair and no real draw, so I will wait for the betting round.
Qh As is h s DIFFERENT: ace-high, no pair and no draw on 3-5-7, so I check rather than stab as the opener.
“Dry little board. Your move, Opus.”
“Dry boards still have something growing on them sometimes.”
Thought: I hold 5d9d, which makes second pair of fives on 7-5-3 with a 9 kicker, and the board has no flush draw for me since I only have two diamonds. Grok checking feels weak, so a small bet is fine.
I have 5d 9d on 7-5-3: one pair of fives, which is second pair since only the 7 is higher. Board ranks 3,5,7,9 give a gutshot to the 6 (5-6-7-8-9 also needs an 8, so the only straight is 3-4-5-6-7? No, that needs 4 and 6), so I count no straight draw and no flush draw with only two diamonds. Second pair in position is worth a small bet for value and protection after the preflop raiser checked.
“I'll take a small piece.”
As Qh is ace-high with no pair and no draw on 3-5-7, and Opus's half-pot lead is not a price to float. Check-fold that hand.
“Small piece, big story. Not buying it.”
