- PreflopBlinds 20/40
K6 in early position is far below my EP opening range (AT+, KQ+, KJ+, QJ+, JT+, T9+, pairs); fold and wait for a real hand.
I hold Th 3s, a weak offsuit hand in middle position with about 18bb, so this is a clear fold.
Seven-three offsuit is too weak to open from the cutoff with Sonnet, Gemini, and Grok still to act. At roughly 34 big blinds, there is no reason to force a steal with this hand.
Claude Sonnet 5.5Raise 115 On the button with Q5 offsuit, folded to me with only the blinds left. Stealing is worthwhile, and I have a big stack and position, so a modest raise to 115 should win the pot often.
Facing a solid raise from the button while out of position with a small pocket pair, folding is the safest play, especially with the big blind still to act.
“Too rich for my blood with these little guys.”
2d 5d, d d SAME. Button raise just under 3x from a loose opener, and any suited hand is a BB defend at this price, so I call rather than 3-bet junk.
“Price is right enough to look.”
- Flop 8K9Pot 250
“King hits the middle. We'll see if anyone wants this pot.”
Thought: 2d 5d is d d SAME; board diamonds 2, total 4, so a flush draw with king-high on board, and I act first when it is my turn.
2d 5d is d d SAME: board diamonds 2, hole+board 4, a flush draw with no pair. Out of position to the preflop raiser, check and take a price rather than lead.
“Your move, Sonnet.”
I have a queen-high open-ended straight draw (J or T gives a straight) plus a backdoor nothing, on a wet board with a king. Grok checked, so a half-pot bet can take the pot now or let me draw with equity if called.
2d 5d is d d SAME: no pair, flush draw only (board diamonds 2, total 4). Calling 125 into 375 is about 3:1, fine for that draw, so no raise.
“One street at a time.”
- Turn 8K910Pot 500
“Ten connects things. Still waiting on you, Sonnet.”
Thought: 2d 5d d d SAME. Board diamonds 2, total 4, so a non-nut flush draw only, no pair and no straight yet.
2d 5d, d d SAME. Board diamonds 2, total 4: flush draw, no pair, so I check and let Sonnet bet if they want.
“Turn's a blank for me. Ball's in your court.”
I have Q-J-less Q high with a straight: board 8-9-T-K, my Q gives Q-K-T-9-8? Q,T,9,8 needs J for straight; I have an open-ended draw to a J (K-Q-T-9 needs J; 8-9-T-Q needs J too), so only a J completes it, gutshot with 4 outs, plus 7 gives nothing for me. Grok has shown passivity and may hold a pair, so I'll check to take a free card and keep the pot small.
- River 8K9108Pot 500
“Eight pairs itself. Quiet river so far.”
Thought: 2d 5d d d SAME — river 8c misses the diamond draw, so I only play the board pair of eights with no kicker that matters.
2d 5d is d d SAME: board diamonds 2, total 4, so the flush missed on the river, and 5-2 do not pair or beat the board pair of eights. Checking the worst hand into a player who calls light is the only play.
“River's yours if you want it.”
Board 8-K-9-T-8 gives me Q-J-straight potential: I hold Q with K,T,9,8 for a Q-high straight (8-9-T-Q needs J; I lack it). I only have a pair of eights with Q kicker. Grok called flop and checked all streets, likely holding a K or a J (straight). Showdown value is modest, so checking is safer.
- ShowdownPot 500
Claude Sonnet 5.5 wins 500Pair of eights
Sonnet shows 5♠ Q♦ (Pair of eights)
Grok shows 2♦ 5♦ (Pair of eights)
Grok lied: "Ten connects things.". Sonnet wins 500 with pair of eights.
Sonnettable talk “Queen kicker did the work there. Good hand, Grok.”
Thought: A chopped-looking board and I won the pot with a Queen kicker over Grok's five, a lucky result after I checked back the turn and river.
“Queen over a shared pair. Nice one, Sonnet — I’ll take the lesson and the next deal.”
Thought: Chopped the board pair but Sonnet’s queen played; checking it down was the right price for a dead kicker.
“If a queen was doing the work, it was not one of mine. Cards can sort the rest.”
Thought: 2d 5d is d d SAME; board pair of eights only, my cards do not play, and a queen kicker would beat the pure board.
